When a mysterious carriage crosses the desert from Neon to Mateo’s trailer park, he witnesses a one-sided bargain that leaves his friend in the hands of a dangerous courier. Befriended by a pleasant, jazz-loving frog-folk from the Gulch, Mateo sets out toward the brilliant city of Neon to find him.

But hidden beneath the city's dazzling casinos and glittering lounge acts, the faeries keep secrets the little ones were never meant to discover. As Mateo searches for his friend, he discovers a world larger and more glamorous than he ever imagined, filled with strange wonders and unexpected kindness. Yet beneath Neon's bright lights, old debts linger, and the door between casino floors might just lead to a room no one was ever meant to see.


J.D Cunningham’s Neon is a dark fantasy with a dash of whimsy that takes place near the shimmering sands of The Glitter Gulch. The Story follows Mateo, a young child who lives in the small trailer town know as The Oaks, it sits just outside the rocky canyons of the gulch that separates his town from the brilliant city of Neon. Abruptly leaving one day, Mateo begins descending deeper into the city of Neon he begins to discover a world of monsters and mystery.

In the early hours of night while standing on the cliffside with his friend, Mateo notices a caravan moving through the shimmering desert sands in the dead of night. With a recent string of missing children, they wonder if this arriving stranger might be responsible.

Follow Mateo as he seeks to learn about this stranger, make new friends, and uncover the darker truth of what’s happening around him as he makes his way into the brilliant city of Neon.
